I am tired of pretense.

All kinds of pretense.

You can find this pretentiousness most clearly when you drive down the street. Everybody's got to have the latest, greatest, fanciest, most expensive car these days.

Everyone has just got to think that they are something special just because they drive an expensive car - "Look at me! Look what I can afford!"

But in the end - you know what - that fancy__s BMW runs on gas just like the cheapest clunker on the road.

So as far as I am concerned - no one has a good excuse for pretense regarding the car they drive until they have one that doesn't use gas. If someone had a car that ran on air, and didn't pollute the environment - now THAT would be something.

And you know what - no one would care what it looked like.

It's the same thing with intellectual pretense. I don't know how many highschoolers there are out there that got a 30 on their ACT (or a really high SAT score - whatever) and now really think they are something - probably alot.

But when you compare them with someone who can barely balance a checkbook - you find a similar phenomenon to the one I described above. They are both using the physical brain in order to think. So in a sense, both of them are 'running on the same fuel'.

Show me someone who can think without using the physical brain and I will show you someone who has something to brag about.

This is what Rudolf Steiner was especially good at and is the 'secret' of his success (although you can't really call something a secret if he was constantly telling it to people, but then again, if nobody listened to him, maybe you could).

It's what his philosophical works are all about - especially the Philosophy of Freedom.

It's the ultimate environmentally friendly brain.

So the next time some parent starts bragging about how well their kid is doing in school or how high their test scores are - just ask them - "Wow - that's impressive - now, what can they do without using their brain?"
