The first time I read POF was about 10 years ago. I had been studying Steiner's writings for about 3 years or so. I made it as far as the middle point of Chap 3. 2 or 3 years later, I was better prepared. I spent maybe 7 months on Part 1 alone. Every imaginable obstacle (health,mine or my family's) came about. After finanlly finishing it, I realized that a small handful of analogies made it possible for me to get at least to GROUND level (element earth,'what is different?) the main one was : you're in a music class, taking melodic dictation.. who is playing the trombone ? Michael ?
I've re-read it every 2 years or so since then......each time, a little easier......Name of Chapter 3 ? I wouldn't bother with a name for that one.....for me it's radically different each time..... after a handful of readings of POF..... I would venture to say that I 'understand' about ........ 3% in relation to it's potential for 'understandin' .... have you ever tried to explain California coastal weather to someone from Davenport, Iowa ?.......
If i were let alone on an island, guess which ONE book I would select for the rest of my life ?.....pure GENIUS, .....

I am the new kid on the block...please bear with me........It has been suggested in the last couple decades, earlier even...people like stanley messenger, georg kuhlewind (indirectly) ...that POF could possible be written again, in a manner or style that is more accessible to contemporary tinking & language.......'much would be lost in this...'(messenger) Messenger also said (and so did bernard liviegoed(sic?)in Battle of the Soul') that our Millenlial Crossing would bring with it a new impulse for anthroposphy....(Platonists & Aristolians) ....Kuhlewind stated in either 'WORKING WITH ANTHROPOSOPHY' OR ........in any case..... that the original paradigm that theosophists over a hundred years ago used is no longer workable for 'us' I am a 'baby-boomer' who notices now days that 'kids' born after 1980 or so....have never heard of even mainstream cultural icons like ....'Columbo' .... 'the Prisoner' ... or even The Thomas Covenant Chronicles'......
It has been stated by steiner & other post-steiner anthroposophists that geniuses like Mozart, Bach, Michaelanglo, etc (Beethoven has his own category in my book) will no longer be able to incarnate in present earthly conditions. .... for that matter, Steiner certainly belongs to the exalted genius category.....In Messenger's online novel, "the It's', that Richard Leviton could properly re-write it.....good, but I think that more has to be added to this suggestion....something more....HORIZONTAL ? COLLABERATIVE ?

Imagine a collaberative work on "POF'.... a group-written & illustrated GRAPHIC NOVELLA , drawing on the traditions of Wolfram, the templars, etc, & the contemporay 'craze' of World War Z, The Stand (stephen king). district 9....even Star Wars (or Star Trek) ......Livegoed's suggestion that Mani would return to earthly incarnation (S?) around 2020 to 2040.....all of the fundamentals of POF,......meeting half-way the need of a revision, never mind how imperfect it may be.....
I am certainly not suggesting that i could do this....certainly not alone.......I have failed twice before in trying to illustrate other people's poems for publication.......I literally buried their offerings undearneath an avalanche of my own grandiose images........so......

creative expression of POF
I have produced several examples of one individuals expression of The Philosophy of Freedom in video, images, cartoons, and even some new translating. I had hoped this website would be a vehicle for many individuals to creatively express the ideas within POF in a new way. While a complete rewrite is daunting, anybody can express a small part of the book.

I think having many different individuals express parts of The Philosophy of Freedom in their own way is appropriate for our age rather than some guru redoing the whole book. The age of Guru's is over.
