Tom, it is another Kessinger Publishing book. I found it on AMAZON.DE It arrived this morning and it appears to be what it claims. Die Philosophie der Freiheit (1894) by Rudolf Steiner (ISBN 1104732351) white cover with dark blue borders top and bottom, and a small rose motif. The reprint legend inside and the back cover is in English. You might try www.kessinger.net?
If you have difficulties ordering it I will send a copy over to you for Christmas.
A member of our local PoF study group has a book that he says shows all the changes from first to second edition. He will lend it to me this week, and I will let you know how useful it is.

Kessinger is selling the 1894 original German POF on Amazon. This is great. We need to know what all the 1918 revisions are. This should be posted on the site.

This book has just come into my hands, on loan, and these are my first impressions.
(1994) Dokemente zur «Philosophie der Freiheit» Dornach: Rudolf Steiner Verlag.
This thick tome contains a facsimile of the 1894 First Edition PoF with Steiner’s handwritten annotations for the Second Edition. At this point I cannot ascertain whether all changes to the earlier chapters are included, as the annotations begin with Chapter 5, although there are some additional notes of annotations. The reproductions of the earlier chapters appear to be nothing more than what was printed.
Among other archival nuggets, it also lists the comments on the First Edition by Eduard von Hartmann, and his letter to Steiner. Only one page of Hartmann’s notes is reproduced in facsimile, showing that his handwriting is even more difficult to decipher than Steiner’s.
This book may be useful for checking the changes throughout PoF, but the handwritten notes need to be cross-checked with the printed editions anyway. It is listed as GA #4a within the Rudolf Steiner Gesamtausgabe. PoF itself is GA #4.

This volume contains all the material received for the Philosophy of Freedom from the archives of the Rudolf Steiner estate. It looks like this book is for sale on a few German book sites. I will want to buy one if I can find out how to order it.
