This is a gif dancer with or without music. Test to see if you are using the left part of your brain or the right. This includes details on what your right brain and left brains functions do for you. If you see this lady turning in clockwise you are using your right brain. If you see it the other way, you are using left brain. Some people do see both ways, but most people see it only one way.
See if you can make her go one way and then the other by shifting the brain's current. BOTH DIRECTIONS CAN BE SEEN. Experimentation has shown that the two different sides, or hemispheres of the brain are responsible for different manners of thinking. The following table illustrates the differences between left-brain and right-brain thinking:
Counter Clockwise
Clockwise Spin
Left Brain
Right Brain
Logical
Random
Sequential
Intuitive
Rational
Holistic
Analytical
Synthesizing
Objective
Subjective
Looks at parts
Looks at wholes
More...
Most individuals have a distinct preference for one of these styles of thinking. Some, however, are more whole-brained and equally adept at both modes. In general, schools tend to favor left-brain modes of thinking, while downplaying the right-brain activities. Left-brain scholastic subjects focus on logical thinking, analysis, and accuracy. Right-brained subjects, on the other hand, focus on a esthetics, feeling, and creativity. If you look away, she may switch from one direction to the other.
I found that if I just look at her feet or relax and look at the floor where the
reflection shows, she will switch direction!

tiny dancer!
very interesting...at first I thought I was seeing it "right-brained" but I found that if I shifted my view to the periphery for several seconds I could "command" her to switch directions...and after that it became possible to manipulate it easily...I wonder if there is a connection to seeing things from the periphery and more "spiritual" visioning...
This is very relevant to PoF imo
"A form of inner movement capable of outer expression" is a formulation from RS of what thinking is. (can''t remember source). I have taught music and dance and know that the two are inseparable in performance practice. Thinking is not theoretical/static at all -AT ALL. Thinking has just had a bad press and attracts people who are impressed by the static. Thinking is actually as risky as is dancing-and just as as public.
Once, I spent hours watching a "christmas candle turbine revolving angels decoration/device." (know what I refer to?) The angel roundabout had a solo cherub in profile fixed on the top, cherub profile pirrouetting about its centre exactly as the above dancer form is doing. I spent hours analysing it and living with my reactions to it that Christmas.
It became clear that the way to command a visual percept was to move with it, and by move I do mean move. (not frame or observe). Once the movement has been done consciously/outward physical, it can be slowly reduced to a point where it can be felt as unconsciously "inner" .
Eventually, by being able to get the dancer to not revolve at all, but to oscilate alternately left and right, I was forced to acknowledge my use of a very real inner force of my own, centering around my sensations of balance, movement, and inner good-will. I was delighted when I later found these experiences characterised by Dr S (among others) as "the etheric body".
Some days I mix with thinkers who, as far as I can see, are drawn to thinking largely out of their karmic antipathy to movement! They gain relief from their imprisonment by talking, or in the really hopeless cases by writing! Ho ho ha ha :-) Wheeeee! Forgive the assault on academia.

This was fun
This was great fun. As I watched I found myself seeing the dancer go clockwise, and then after a while it naturally changed and I saw the dancer going counter clockwise. So as I watched, the dancing image would change after watching for a minute or less to the clockwise or counterclockwise. Great fun.
Cheers,
Patri
This wasn't anything really
This wasn't anything really new for me, I already knew I based everything on feelings and get things from intuitions and such.
Right Brain/Left Brain
Hi Tom,
This is very interesting and fun.
A quick check on the Internet suggests to me that the left brain/right brain link mentioned may be spurious, unproven or at the least an oversimplification - see for example http://scienceline.org/2007/10/29/ask-hsu-spinning-girl-right-left-brain-hemispheres/.
Isn't the whole
Isn't the whole left-brained/right-brained term, essentially a left-brained way of describing the phenomena?
Anyone who says that they are right-brained is essentially using left-brained terminology, right?
Wouldn't a right-brainer actually describe it as arty seeing, sensory synthesis? The toad gets high when it licks me, man?
So how would he describe a "left-brainer"?
Oh yeah... Ahriman.
Hey, and I discovered a new game: Stare at that spinning dancer and see if you can switch her directions over and over before she makes a full rotation. Don't let her make a full circle either direction. I found that if you wait to switch her direction at extreme left/right, that makes it easier. Time yourself and keep a journal, record how often you puke too...First one to lose 30 pounds wins.
And I think there is something to it's scientific validity.. both sides of my head are tingling after doing this exercise for so long..both sides of my stomach feel empty too): Anyone have any similar experiences?
