So far, I notice that when

So far, I notice that when I've answered correctly I'm sure I'm right, I hardly need check the answer; but when I'm unsure, i'm usually wrong.

The quizzes are written in

The quizzes are written in an unusual way. The correct answer is the one found in the text. It may be worded differently as I use 6 different English translations. The incorrect answer may be a better answer than the correct answer. All the answers could be considered right.  I try to include additional (incorrect) answers that may help with understanding the correct answer found in the text or include some more contemporary answers that can be compared to the book. So it is probably impossible to be successful with the quizzes without reading the book closely, even if you know a lot about Steiner's philosophy. The purpose of the quizzes is to encourage thorough study of the text and to sometimes add meaning to the correct answer.

Here is a chapter 2 quiz example. The correct answer is A because it is found in the Philosophy of Freedom text. An incorrect answer is B, but it gives more meaning to the text answer A.

What splits our whole being into two parts: “I” and world…

A. the something more which we seek in things, over and above what is immediately given to us in them, splits our whole being into two parts
B. the mental process splits the world into two halves: into things outside of me, and into images of these things within me

Quiz is fantastic!

Tom,

Thanks a lot for your hard and unusual work!

Quizzes are very good and interesting. I really enjoy of them.

I rather don't read Philosophy of Freedom in English, but I found that Quizzes are universal - you have to know the text closely (even in another language) and you have to think also. Amazing!

Thanks again

Olga
