I AM the Light - One

The I AM and fire

Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12

Light is actually invisible, it makes everything else visible. We don’t think about this in our daily life because we are always saying things like, “turn on the light” “shine the light over here” “I need more light”. So we talk about light as if it was a thing when really we mean the object that is emitting the light not the light itself.
So the I AM is light – invisible but can make all things visible. Occult knowledge reveals that light is created by fire. The light of the sun is produced by the consuming fire of the sun beings.
Therefore the I AM is created by fire. Fire is warmth so it must follow that when we are warm we have fire within us and that fire creates light. This brings us back to the point that the I AM is light.
So lets look at how we can be warm and light or cold and dark.
  • We can look at a flower and see spirit weaving there in the colour, the shape, the smell or we can pass the flower by without noticing it.
  • We can be energetic, creative and caring or be a person who couldn’t care less about things.
  • We can be peaceful, harmonious, cheerful and content or we can allow a bad mood, depression or negativity to overshadow us.
  • Then we can see God working in this world, in world events, in the seasons and the religious festivals, or we can not notice these rhythms.
These are the choices we make throughout each day. In freedom we choose to be cold or warm. In the cold, the darkness, the I AM shrinks back and can have no influence. In the warmth the I AM creates a light on our path “he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” Rudolph Steiner saw it this way:

“I gaze into the Darkness.
In it there arises Light —
Living Light!
Who is this Light in the Darkness?
It is I myself in my reality.
This reality of the ‘I’
Does not enter into my earthly life.
I am but a picture of it.
But I shall find it again
When with good will for the Spirit
I shall have passed through the Gate of Death.”

Entering into meditative words like this we can confront the Darkness. We realize that here on Earth we are only a picture of our true being — that our true being rarely comes down into our earthly life. Yet in the midst of the darkness, through our good will towards the spirit, a light can dawn upon us, of which we may in truth confess: This Light am I myself in my reality.”
