The Celestial Rose and her relationship to Spiritual Science
Theosophia – Wisdom of God
Philosophia – Wisdom of the World
Anthroposophia – Wisdom of the Human Being |
All creation has a relationship to Sophia, because all creation has come into existence by way of the Divine Wisdom that Sophia embodies, she is the plan of creation and also participates in the work of creation. Whether as Isis or Mary the Divine Feminine, she has stood before our souls as a picture of heaven.
Rudolf Steiner would call his life’s work “Anthroposophia.” Steiner first spoke of Anthroposophia during the 1st General Meeting of the Anthroposophical Society in Berlin, on February 3, 1913. He spoke of Anthroposophia as the Cosmic Sophia become objective again, as Sophia having passed through the human soul (the Luke "Mary" from the New Testament), and in this form she will meet enlightened human beings. Sophia becoming objective again, takes into her what humanity is, and objectively presents herself as Anthroposophia. Whatever comes to light in the realm of Anthroposophia, we also need to live in it with our feelings. There are those who will find their full life in the heart of Anthroposophia herself , as divine wisdom in human hearts on earth. (RS)
Anthroposophia as a living, supersensible being, who for the good of earthly evolution stands behind Spiritual Science, will walk amongst us, bringing to human beings the new revelation of the heavenly Sophia, the divine wisdom. Anthroposophy and Spiritual Science have the greatest responsibility to Anthroposophia. She should be regarded as a living being that we are responsible for as she bears the wisdom of humanity, and within herself the being of humankind. Anthroposophia for our age represents the flourishing of committed brotherhood and sisterhood as revealed in the revelation to John.
Indications given by Steiner suggest that Anthroposophia was an Archangelic being of the same substance as Michael and developed in accordance not with earthly laws, but with the laws of the Sun. Thus, the task of Anthroposophia is as the link between humanity and the Cosmic Sophia. Cosmic Sophia and Super Sensible Human Anthroposophia, descending from Archangel to Angel to Human Being, to prepare the way for a new consciousness in human beings, showing us what we are. Anthroposophia enlightens the relationship of Wisdom and Faith (Sophia and Pistis) to the Christian Mystery and stands as the goal and archetype of human wisdom in the cosmos, redeeming evil through the Christ impulse.
Steiner shared that as students of anthroposophy we must develop a relationship with the Being of Anthroposophia that is intimate and conscious. Her wisdom is the light that will shine forth and bring an understanding of the union between the human being and the Being of Christ. Anthroposophia must be understood as an invisible person, someone with a real existence, whom we should consult in the individual actions of our lives and in our groups.
Through the combined activity of Michael and the being of Anthroposophia it was made possible for Rudolf Steiner to become the earthly bearer of Anthroposophy or Spiritual Science. Anthroposophia herself has reached the evolutionary stage of Spirit Self and in our time works directly with the forces proceeding from the Holy Spirit. In concert with Michael bringing the Cosmic Intelligence to earth, it is through the wisdom of Anthroposophia in individual thinking that human beings will understand the Cosmic Intelligence.
Having a relationship with Anthroposophia means accepting the responsibility for making known the path of Anthroposophy and Spiritual Science through The Philosophy of Freedom and all the other Steiner works, thus leading to a conscious living relationship with her on the part of the individual. This is available to every human being who with conscious will strives to find in their heart-thinking a living relationship with Anthroposophia. Anthroposophia herself hopes to develop a relationship with us as individuals and as groups, on behalf of humanity.
Again, Sophia becoming objective, takes with her what humanity is, and objectively presents herself as Anthroposophia – as the Sophia who, after passing through the human soul, through the very being of the human being, henceforth bears that being within her, and in this form she will confront enlightened human beings.
After Rudolf Steiner’s death in 1925, the Being of Anthroposophia was largely overlooked by the anthroposophical movement. But with the book by Rudolf Grosse published in 1986, “The Living Being Anthroposophia,” and other writings to come later, she is now very much to the front in Spiritual Science consciousness today. As we approach the New Year of 2008, may it be that we awake to her living presence and turn in love and freedom to her who is there to be our guide, as she guided Rudolf Steiner in writing his Philosophy of Freedom and bringing Anthroposophy to Earth.
Best regards to all.

Raising our awareness
Many thanks, Patri, for raising our awareness of and through Anthroposophia.
The Secret Rose
"The Secret Rose" by W.B. Yeats
Far-off, most secret, and inviolate Rose,
Enfold me in my hour of hours; where those
Who sought thee in the Holy Sepulchre,
Or in the wine-vat, dwell beyond the stir
And tumult of defeated dreams; and deep
Among pale eyelids, heavy with the sleep
Men have named beauty. Thy great leaves enfold
The ancient beards, the helms of ruby and gold
Of the crowned Magi; and the king whose eyes
Saw the Pierced Hands and Rood of elder rise
In Druid vapour and make the torches dim;
Till vain frenzy awoke and he died; and him
Who met Fand walking among flaming dew
By a grey shore where the wind never blew,
And lost the world and Emer for a kiss;
And him who drove the gods out of their liss,
And till a hundred morns had flowered red
Feasted, and wept the barrows of his dead;
And the proud dreaming king who flung the crown
And sorrow away, and calling bard and clown
Dwelt among wine-stained wanderers in deep woods;
And him who sold tillage, and house, and goods,
And sought through lands and islands numberless years,
Until he found, with laughter and with tears,
A woman of so shining loveliness
That men threshed corn at midnight by a tress,
A little stolen tress. I, too, await
The hour of thy great wind of love and hate.
When shall the stars be blown about the sky,
Like the sparks blown out of a smithy, and die?
Surely thine hour has come, thy great wind blows,
Far-off, most secret, and inviolate Rose?
Ah Tim, thanks
Dear Tim,
Much thanks for sharing this beautiful poem. Yeats and his love of Spiritual Science shines through here especially.
Love,
Patri
