                        the following excersise is recommended to help achieve this goal.

                                   Visualize someone really longing for something.

                                   try to focus on the moment that that persons desire was the strongest, and and we must imagine we are  at the stage where we ourselves dont yet know that this person got their hearts desire... (revision added: try to imagine that you dont yet know that the person upon whose intense desire you are focusing did indeed get their desire materialized.)

                                   be very quiet and surender totally to this picture of intense desire of this person.

                                    pay close attention to the feeling this visual picture awakens in you. just let the feeling rise up in you.

                                        to be continued after you have tried it quite a lot of times hopefully!

desire and longing in KotHW

Hi jennyren,

I actually practiced this exercise a lot while on retreat.  I found it to be very powerful, one could see why sometimes one's longings are realized and sometimes not.  A lot to do with karma, but a lot to do with right intention also.  Now that you have brought it forward here I will start practicing it anew.

Hope the goodly davearonoff and doubtingneil are still out there and participating.
