Reader statistics and more

It has been very useful to look at the number of reads that current threads receive. They have informed my choice of topic in the Anthroposophy Group for example.

This information is no longer appearing - is it just me?

I would like to request that they reappear soon, please.

The picture of the editing functions in the User Guide fits to the wonderful toolbar available to super-editors. The rest of the readership get something much less functional, so perhaps that image could be adjusted to what new readers actually get to see and use. None of the 'Allowed HTML tags' work for ordinary reader/writers as it is not possible to get to the source in the edit box. Again this observation may only apply to myself.

The super-toolbar was actually useful, whereas the other enhanced functions were less so.

Here is another chance to say how grateful I am for the work going into this site!

Admin update

The user guide needs lots of things. We lack the volunteers to get many needed things done.

I am currently examining administration permissions like group organizer's having the ability  to change their group web page. I have to test many different settings to find the right combination but may complete that in a day or two.

The reader count is inaccurate and shows a lower count than is the reality so it was giving a false reading. But it is useful for assessing use so I was thinking of letting the admin and group managers seeing the read figures. I also thought of giving this group the advanced text editor.

The regular users are given some false information about code on their text editor but that is a programming issue of which we don't have the money to have changed. I'm not asking Louie to do free site programming anymore unless it is essential.

Tops - more suggestions

Thanks Tom. I would advocate the possibility for Group Managers to be able to edit posts in their domain(s) only if that is possible. I do not see the need for many to be involved if the core group can offer a response time not exceeding 24 hours if anything urgent arises.

I support the policy on not taking advantage of Louie. On the other hand, can the edit box toolbar be simply tweaked to have a view source button added? That would solve the dilemma.

If a specific jobs requires a specific cash advance, I suggest a request for a sponsor for a single task would not be unrealistic. I can offer to mock up a new image for the User Guide in a couple of weeks, other commitments allowing. The only reason I do not offer to do more is them other commitments... that's life!

If Tom is being supported by Lori and Sebastian working more on the front page, etc. a gratitude and respect list would address the public awareness issue.

text editor options

The only option available is to give the public the advanced text editor. But I hesitate as I try to figure out why they offer a basic and an advanced text editor? There seems to be a basic rule that you don't give people more tech. than they know how to operate to avoid mishaps.

I know from experience their are many ways to mess up and do some damage to site layout and more.

Nightmares?

O Tom - do tell us about your nightmare scenarios...

Point accepted, no worries about how I sleep tonight.
