The United States declared its independence on July 4th, 1776.

This Declaration of Independence is celebrated each year in America on July 4th.

It is on this day, July 4th, 2007 that Randolph McCready of Sacramento, California, member of the society for over twenty years, is beginning a new initiative called the MEMBERS CHOICE INITIATIVE. It is part of his work toward renewing the Anthroposophical Society whose membership and contributions have been declining over the past several years.

The purpose of the MEMBERS CHOICE INITIATIVE is to renew the society by calling for better adherence to the Statutes of the Anthroposophical Society, particularly in the designation of officers to the society groups.

In many Anthroposophical Society groups Statute 4 of the Statutes of the General Anthroposophical Society (revised 2002) is not followed. In statute 4 it states:

Members may join together in groups on any basis of locality or subject, and these groups shall designate their own officers.

The MEMBERS CHOICE INITIATIVE is an effort to secure the right of members to designate the officers of their local Anthroposophical Society. Having a real voice in the selection of society officers may be the beginning for the renewal of the society that we all hope for.

The MEMBERS CHOICE INITIATIVE will be announcing action to be taken on a local and global level soon.
